Ask for time off from your phone

The phone app does the whole thing: the ask, the message, and the answer. Handy when the reason you cannot work is exactly that you are not near a computer.

Your manager's side of this: Approve or deny a staff request

Tap the calendar tab at the bottom. Your week opens with one card per shift: the day on the left, the hours and label on the card.

The phone schedule of one staff member: the week number at the top, a card for each shift with its hours and label, and the tab bar along the bottom.
  • Swipe sideways, or tap ‹ and › at the top, to reach another week.
  • The filled day badge is today, so you always know where in the week you are.

Tap the shift card. A sheet slides up with the shift on it and the same four ways to ask as on a computer.

A sheet over the phone schedule titled Select the type of change you want to make, with the shift and four tiles: Report time deviation, Ask for a change, Add a comment, and Report sick.
  • Ask for a change opens the time-off choices: Cancel shift, Change time, Offer shift to user and Swap shift.
  • Report sick and Report time deviation go straight to the form.

The form shows the shift and a required Message field. Type one line about why, then tap Send.

The Cancel shift form on the phone: the shift with its hours, a required Message field, and a Send button.
  • The back arrow next to Send returns to the choices if you picked the wrong one.
  • Asking to Change time? Set the new hours on this sheet first.

Sending needs a connection. If your signal was poor, open the Outbox afterwards and check the request is really there.

Tap the envelope tab and switch to Outbox. Your sent request is there as a card: what you asked, your message, and how long ago you sent it. Inbox is the other direction, things sent to you.

The phone Requests screen on the Outbox tab, showing a sent Cancel shift request card with its message and a Cancel button.
  • Cancel on the card withdraws the request while it is still unanswered.
  • When it is approved, your week updates by itself and the card leaves the Outbox.

Allow notifications and the answer finds you, without opening the app at all.
